To mark Europe Day, we present the Atlas of Invisible Borders, a new multimedia project that explores the invisible divisions of Europe developed in conjunction with the European Alliance of Academies.

We would also like to announce our recent addition to the network Culture Action Europe as well as the appointment of Cine Estudio , the Treasure of European Film CultureThis award is given by the European Film Academy. Similarly, and in keeping with our commitment to a transnational approach to culture, we also participate in projects such as FAILUREwhich brings together universities and institutions from Europe and America and offers an innovative vision of failure with an interdisciplinary and transnational perspective.

Atlas of Invisible Borders

In a world where physical borders often dominate our attention, it's easy to overlook the invisible borders that exist within our societies. These intangible lines can have just as much, if not more, impact on shaping the lives of individuals and communities across Europe.

The Atlas of Invisible Borders is an online platform featuring a comprehensive collection of videos. Serving as a digital forum for reflection, it amplifies diverse perspectives and sheds light on the persistent invisible barriers shaping Europe today. It showcases the results of our first call for contributions, presenting 23 selected videos from 12 European countries. Each video offers a unique perspective on invisible borders, organized by concept and country to facilitate exploration and engagement.

Our aim is to encourage reflection on these often-overlooked divisions and foster a deeper understanding of their implications. The online platform Atlas serves as a space where voices from all corners of Europe can converge to share their ideas and experiences.

The Atlas of Invisible Borders is an initiative of the European Alliance of Academies, of which we are a part, a transnational network of 70 art academies and cultural institutions that advocate for freedom of artistic expression, a fundamental element for social cohesion in Europe.

Culture Action Europe

Recently, el Círculo It has joined Culture Action Europe, the leading European network of cultural institutions, organizations, artists, activists, academics, and policymakers. Culture Action Europe is the primary forum for informed opinion and debate on arts and cultural policy in the EU. As the only cross-sectoral network, it brings together all cultural practices, from the performing arts to literature, visual arts, design, and inter-artistic initiatives, as well as community centers and activist groups.

Treasure of European Film Culture

Last March, the Cine Estudio He has been named a Treasure of European Film Culture, an award given by the European Film Academy. Thanks to this recognition, el Círculo de Bellas Artes It is positioned as a place of symbolic importance for European cinema, its historical value is recognized, and its protection is advocated. Likewise, its importance as a setting for numerous key films in the history of Spanish cinema is highlighted.

FAILURE

Since 2020, el Círculo de Bellas Artes It participates in projects funded by the EU (Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe). One of the most relevant European projects is FAILURE: Reversing the Genealogies of Unsuccess 16th and 19th Centuries, which brings together universities and institutions from Europe and America and offers an innovative view of failure from an interdisciplinary and transnational perspective.

More than 150 researchers from ten countries are part of Failure, and through their stays and research they create strong ties between the participating institutions, generating fruitful cultural and academic exchanges that will last beyond the duration of the project.
