CBA Programming 2020-2021

The season we are beginning will not be easy. This is true in every aspect of society: healthcare, the economy, and education are all experiencing great uncertainty. Alongside these sectors, the cultural sector has suffered, and continues to suffer, particularly from the still impossible-to-assess consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Far from sitting back and waiting for more favorable times, Culture has taken a step forwardFrom the beginning of the crisis, it has demonstrated its status as much neededreinventing its way of reaching the public, adapting immediately adapting to new, very difficult normalities for the sector and offering forums for common reflection where one can calmly think about an uncertain present and future.
In the season we're starting, el Círculo de Bellas Artes will share spaces for debate, will listen to the artistic proposals of the most YOUNGIt will feature the voices of prominent figures in the and the international thought and will remain attentive to the multiple cultural movements y events that mark this intense era.
We are also committed to offering a large part of our content through our digital platformsAs we demonstrated during the months of lockdown, during which we maintained and even expanded lecture series, virtually inaugurated some of our exhibitions, and devised new proposals expressly designed for those difficult times, the cultural offering must be maintained at all costs and seek new ways of meeting the public.
We are very excited to finalize the launch of the project MNRVA permanent exhibition space, with the aim of highlighting electronic art created by young artists. However, the big name in the visual arts section for 2020 will be... Banksy, whose work we will see very soon in the CBA halls.
We will remain constant in our dialogue and close collaboration with the academic sectorIn order to foster discussion forums that bring together a multitude of voices and proposals and critically address current concepts such as "innovation," we will launch the following initiatives, convinced of the importance of knowledge transfer: Innovation Encounters in Arts and Humanities, designed to bring to society the research that is developed in these disciplines in different Universities and Higher Centers of Artistic Education.
Furthermore, reinforcing this idea of collaboration and exchange, the CBA is firmly committed to internationalization, as demonstrated by its membership in the European Alliance of AcademiesAn ambitious transnational network of 50 cultural institutions across Europe, set to launch next October. This and other European projects will generate numerous connections that are fundamental for el Círculo in his capacity as «Casa Europa».
Regarding the proposals scenic, led by three series that have given us unforgettable musical evenings, such as Jazz Circle, Border y Círculo de CámaraThis year we've added two additional seals: Access Keys, focused on contemporary music and MADATAC (Exhibition of Digital Audiovisual Art and Contemporary Technologies).
All the new developments included in this summary will complement our more established and recognizable offerings, deeply rooted in the recent history of our institution. Thus, On Mondays, at the Circle, the Eñe Festival, Public 21, The Continued Reading of Don Quixote, The Portuguese Culture Showcase, Children's Game, Teatralia, The Max Star Night o Solidarity Circle, will once again mark Madrid's cultural calendar.

In short, we have designed a program that is attentive to the cultural and social manifestations more recent, both national and international, and always critical in its attitude towards the challenges of this complex and difficult present.
