This roundtable discussion will explore the boundaries and apparent and hidden relationships between art and science. A meeting between scientists and artists invites participants to explore the profound—and often surprising—connections between quantum physics and contemporary art. In a context where the boundaries between disciplines are blurring, this conversation seeks to open new ways of seeing and thinking about the world from the perspective of the intangible, the uncertain, and the unobservable.

Participating in this dialogue are sculptor Mar Solís, known for her work with dynamic structures that evoke natural processes and energy flows; theoretical physicist and science communicator Gustavo Ariel Schwartz, a researcher in the field of quantum physics and author of texts that combine science, philosophy, and literature; and artist and researcher Alfredo Miralles Benito, whose work moves between performance, installation, and reflections on technology and the body. The panel will be moderated by art historian Elisa Garrido, one of our Biennial curators.

Drawing on their diverse backgrounds, the participants will address questions such as: Can art give form to what science cannot yet represent? What does the uncertainty principle have to do with artistic creation? How does the concept of quantum superposition translate into an aesthetic experience? What role do emptiness, scale, and perception play in both fields? Beyond the answers, this roundtable discussion offers a space for the intersection of languages, intuitions, and methods. An invitation to consider, from both poetic and scientific perspectives, how to make the invisible visible.

Mar Solís, a Spanish sculptor recognized for her work in the field of organic abstraction, holds a doctorate in Fine Arts and has been a professor at the Francisco de Vitoria University since 2013.

Gustavo Ariel SchwartzArgentine physicist, writer and popularizer, researcher at the Higher Council for Scientific Research, who carries out his activity at the Center for Materials Physics of San Sebastián (Spain).

Alfredo Miralles Benito, artist, cultural manager and teacher, coordinator of the Art and Science Platform of the Carlos III University of Madrid, of the interdisciplinary project Symbiontes of the Planea Network and coordinator of the Madrid node of the redACTS (state network of art, science, technology and society).
