Quantum Games Workshop

City and Science Biennial

Game theory is a classical branch of mathematics with profound applications in economics, social sciences, and other fields. Within the explosion of quantum technologies currently underway, games have not been left behind. In 1999, the first scientific article on quantum games was published, in which players can employ quantum resources, achieving strategies far superior to those in classical games.

The Q-Math group at Carlos III University of Madrid invites us to participate in a workshop on digital games programmed by them using quantum rules. This research team, led by Alberto Ibort, has developed a new approach to quantum (and classical) games with the aim of creating a quantum video game for the general public.

In this workshop, students will participate in a scavenger hunt where they will discover the fundamentals of game theory in its classical and quantum versions through simulations. They will also play quantum versions of several classic games, such as the classic game of "Chinese" (or "Chinese"), and a quantum game with perfect strategy based on the "Matrix" film saga. Students will be able to play these games digitally and experience the dramatic difference that the use of quantum strategies makes. Winning is always possible!

Participants: Q-Math Group of the Carlos III University of Madrid.
