Bernard Stiegler

Bernard Stiegler (France, 1952) is a philosopher and creator of the Research and Innovation Institute of the Pompidou Centre.

He works as an associate professor and director of the research unit Knowledge, organizations and technical systems from the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), which he founded in 1993. He has been deputy director general of the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) and director of the Institute of Research and Coordination Acoustics/Music (Ircam).

With the support of the Ministry of Research, he launched the LECAO project, focused on computer-assisted critical reading and writing. He also created and organized the Compiègne Seminar on Cognitive Sciences and Technologies, held annually, which has hosted over a thousand French and international doctoral students and researchers.

In 2013 he was appointed a member of the National Digital Council (CNN).
