Born in Madrid in 1959, he began working at Rafael Moneo's studio in 1982, a year after graduating from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM). In 1992, he founded the studio Mansilla+Tuñón Arquitectos with Luis Moreno Mansilla. In 2007, he received the Mies van der Rohe Award for contemporary architecture.

Throughout his professional career, he has collaborated with architecture magazines such as Pasajes and Arquitectura . It is also worth highlighting his teaching work at various schools, including the Städelschule in Frankfurt, the New School of Architecture of Puerto Rico, the San Pablo CEU Foundation of Architecture, the International School of Architecture of Barcelona, ​​and the ETSAM, where he is head of the Mansilla+Tuñón teaching unit.

Among the projects carried out by Mansilla+Tuñón Arquitectos are the Museum of Archaeology and Fine Arts of Zamora, the Joaquín Leguina Regional Library of Madrid, the MUSAC of León and the Museum of Cantabria.
