Francisco Calvo Serraller (Madrid, 1948) is a historian, art critic, and professor of Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid. He has been a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando since 1999 and was director of the Prado Museum. He contributes to various media outlets as an art critic. Among his most notable essays on art are Freedom of exhibition. A different history of art (2000) Contemporary art (2001) Genres in painting (2005) and For independence (2008), written with Juan Pablo Fusi.
