Ignacio Pajón Leyra
Ignacio Pajón Leyra Professor of Ancient Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and Society at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he has taught for over ten years. His main research area focuses on Hellenistic philosophy, with particular attention to schools of thought such as skepticism, Epicureanism, Stoicism, and Cynicism. He is the author of the books Phenomenology of uncertainty (2002) The fundamental assumptions of Greek skepticism (2013) Keys to understanding ancient skepticism (2014) The Cynic philosophers (2019) and The glass jar: cynicism, nakedness and transparency (2020), a work for which he won the 2020 Diderot Essay Prize. He has also published narrative works such as Time flies (2008), and theatrical pieces such as The mistletoe (2002) Anywhere, any day (2006) and The die (2012). He is currently the director of the Ibero-American Network of Studies in Ancient Philosophy, an academician of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain, secretary of the University Institute of Sciences of Religions, a member of the board of directors of the Association of Theatre Authors and vice-secretary of the Spanish Society of Rhetoric.
