José Luis Neto

José Luis Neto Born in Satão (Portugal) in 1966, he completed his training between Lisbon, where he studied photography at the Center for Art and Visual Communication, and London, where he developed an individual project (Idea of ​​Light) at the Royal College of Art. He has exhibited regularly in and outside of Portugal since the early 1990s, also participating in biennials, art fairs and photography events.

Among his latest exhibitions, the following stand out: AboutFace. Photography and the Death of the Portrait (Hayward Gallery, London, 2004). He has also exhibited at the Galeria Promontório in Lisbon (Liga-me, 2004), at the National Museum of Ancient Art (LisbonPhoto, 2005) and at the José de Azeredo Perdigão Modern Art Center (Continuum, 2005). In Spain, he became known thanks to his first solo exhibition at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid (High Speed ​​Press Plate.

Throughout his career, he has received several awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the 47th edition of the Montrouge Contemporary Art Salon (2002) and the Bes Photo (2005), the most prestigious photography award in Portugal. Furthermore, he was invited this year to be a member of the jury for the inaugural Sony World Photography Awards.
