Juan Angel Vela del Campo (Bilbao, 1947) is a Full Member of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy, an essayist, and has worked in cultural dissemination in print, radio, and television for the past three decades. Founder and director of the Liceu's Digital Opera project in Barcelona for its first four years, he is the cultural director of the Tutto Verdi program of the Bilbao Association of Friends of the Opera and the cultural director of Tutto Verdi at ABAO, Bilbao. Director of the History of Music in Spain and Latin AmericaPublished by Fondo de Cultura Económica. He is a consultant at the Galician School of Advanced Musical Studies. Winner of the Salzburg Culture Fund Critics' Prize in 2000, he regularly directs courses at Spanish universities, in addition to giving lectures at various institutions both in Spain and abroad.
