Juan Miguel Hernández León (Málaga, 1945) is president ofel Círculo de Bellas Artes de MadridAn architect from the ETSAM since 1974 and a Doctor of Architecture since 1982, he is Professor Emeritus of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and has taught and conducted research at numerous national and international universities.

Founder and director of Passages of Architecture and Criticism as well as Illuminations. Magazine of architecture and thoughtShe has regularly contributed to specialized journals and directs the Art and Architecture collection at the ABADA publishing house. Her theoretical work includes titles such as Contemporary Spanish Architecture, To combine the empty spaces, The one-walled house, Authenticity and Monument, Being-landscape, A conversation y Being-Architecture.

As an architect, he has developed renowned projects, such as the redesign of the Recoletos-Prado axis and the restoration of the Ceuta fortifications, a finalist for the National Architecture Prize. He has also collaborated with Álvaro Siza, Eduardo Souto de Moura, and Patxi Mangado.

He has held various positions in cultural and academic institutions, including Director General of Culture for the Community of Madrid and Director General of Fine Arts and Archives for the Ministry of Culture, a period during which the Reina Sofía Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum were consolidated. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Reina Sofía Museum.
