Miguel Fernández-Cid (Pontevedra 1956) holds a degree in Geography and History from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has been a professor at the Faculties of Fine Arts in Salamanca (1988–1992) and Pontevedra (1993–1995), and editor-in-chief of Buades, art newspaper (1984-89), and works as an art critic in specialized magazines and newspapers such as Diario 16, ABC, El País y The World. In 1995 he founded Arte y parte, a bimonthly magazine of artistic information, which he edited and directed until 1998.

Writer, lecturer, jury member for visual arts awards and exhibition curator, he is responsible for the Room of the 16 Between 1993 and 1996, he was a professor, and from 1998 to 2005 he directed the Galician Center for Contemporary Art, curating exhibitions of artists such as Giuseppe Penone, Rafael Baixeras, Francisco Leiro, Rebecca Horn, Stephan Balkenhol, Ignacio Basallo, and Vik Muniz. Since 2010, he has directed the Gonzalo Torrente Ballester Foundation.
