Peter Eisenman
Peter Eisenman (Newark, 1932) is an American architect. He graduated from Cornell University (Ithaca) in 1955, holds a PhD from Cambridge University, and a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Chicago (Illinois). He worked for architect Percival Goodman (1957-1958) and for Architect's Collaborative (TAC). He is the founder and director of the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in New York. In 1980, he founded his own architecture firm.
Eisenman has designed a wide range of buildings, including numerous residential and urban designs, innovative facilities for institutions, and ingenious private homes. His recent and current projects include the University of Phoenix in Arizona; the Pompeii train station in Italy; a Holocaust memorial in Berlin; and the City of Culture in Santiago de Compostela, a project that seeks to create a new urban space subtly recreating, in a contemporary style, the old town of the Galician capital.
