Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Tomàs Llorens He was a professor of Aesthetics at the School of Architecture of Valencia between 1969 and 1972. From then until 1984, he taught Theory and History of Modern Architecture at the School of Architecture of Portsmouth Polytechnic (UK). After returning to Spain in 1984, he served as Director General of Artistic Heritage in the Valencian Government.

Llorens was the first Director of the IVAM (1986-1988) and the MNCARS (1988-1990) and subsequently Chief Curator of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid (1990-2005). Between 1996 and 2005, he combined his museum work with part-time teaching at the Universities of Girona and Alicante.

Throughout his career, he has published more than two hundred articles in journals and exhibition catalogs on Aesthetics, Art Theory and 20th Century Art History.
He has curated some sixty exhibitions, the last of which, Miró: EarthIt was presented in 2008 in Ferrara and then at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid.
