Fossil atmospheres
This film series revisits and expands upon some of the reflections that the exhibition ¡Aquí hay petróleo! —until February 8th in el Círculo—It explores the cultural imaginaries of fossil modernity. It does so by recovering diverse aesthetic formats and ideological positions: from the corporate documentary films of post-war European fossil fuel companies to the militant environmentalist films of the anti-Franco movement, including contemporary visual essays.
Session 1, 12/1: "The air we breathe: global warming as an atmospheric regime." Session presented by Gemma Barricarte, co-curator of the exhibition.
2nd session 19/1: "Documentary as a fossilized modernity." Session presented by Jaime Vindel, co-curator of the exhibition.
3rd session 26/1: «Anti-Francoist cinema and post-fossilist modernity. Session presented by Professor and Researcher Alberto Berzosa and Jaime Vindel.
