Premiere: The Seasons in Quincy. Four Portraits of John Berger

In 1973, John Berger left the metropolis to live in the small Alpine village of Quincy. He had realized that peasant subsistence farming, which had sustained humanity for millennia, was reaching its historical end. He decided to spend the rest of his life witnessing and participating in this disappearance. His trilogy of novels, * Of His Labours* , chronicles peasant life in this Alpine village and its surroundings. * The Seasons in Quincy * places Berger within the rhythm of the changing seasons. It is the result of a project by Tilda Swinton, Colin McCabe, and Christopher Roth to create a portrait of Berger. The film is produced by the Derek Jarman Lab.
