Franz Kafka's narrative, full of lyrical and metaphorical connotations, has not left cinematic discourse indifferent. While it is commonly accepted that the Czech writer's work represents one of the cornerstones of literary modernity, extending its field of influence to the present day, cinema, which from the 1960s onward began to abandon classicism and embrace contemporary cinema, could not ignore Kafka's most emblematic works, and even less so that much-debated, yet porous, concept known as the Kafkaesque.
