Edgar reitz Along with Rainer Fassbinder, Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog, and Volker Schlöndorff, he was one of the filmmakers who spearheaded the New German Cinema, a movement that revitalized German cinema from the 1970s onward. Reitz's popularity rests on a single, monumental work divided into three parts: Heimat. Cine Estudio The CBA is screening the first part of Heimat: the saga of a German family from a remote village in the Hunsruck Valley, a film that symbolizes the tragic history of Germany throughout the 20th century, with particular emphasis on the rise of Nazism and World War II. The film, consisting of sixteen hours of footage divided into eleven episodes, was written in thirteen months, filmed in one year, and edited in eighteen months.
