Sheriff Len Merrick, haunted by guilt over his father's death, prevents the lynching of Tim "Pop" Keith, accused of murdering a young rancher. Merrick wants to transfer Keith to a frontier town where he can receive a fair trial. The dead man's father will pursue them across the desert to avenge his son's death.
