Susumu Hani
Sessions
| Wed 04/12, 19:30 | Screening of The Cherry Tree with Gray Blossoms and presentation by Francisco Algarín Navarro |
About the film
Susumu Hani's first work on the world of children, in which he materializes his theories on capturing the inner universe of "protagonists who don't act." It launched a whole postwar documentary movement continued by Sumiko Haneda, who appears here as assistant director. Rejected by the Japanese Ministry of Education, which had commissioned it, but awarded prizes in Japan and at the Berlin Film Festival. Image: ©Documentary film preservation center
