The Maltese Falcon
Murder and robbery collide in this classic film noir, an adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's novel of the same name. Written and directed by John Huston in his directorial debut, it features an immeasurable Bogart in every scene. In 1953, the Knights of the Order of Malta decided to present Emperor Charles V with a statuette of a falcon made of solid gold and precious stones. However, pirates attacked the galley transporting the jewel, and it never reached the monarch. Four hundred years later, private detective Sam Spade and his partner, Archer, accept a case from a mysterious young woman who wants to find her sister, who disappeared along with Floyd Thursby, an unscrupulous man.
