(Invasion of the Body Snatchers) Don Siegel, United States, 1956, 1h 20min, VOSE. Int.: Kevin Mccarthy, Dana Wynter, Larry Gates [35 mm.]

Dr. Miles Bennell returns home from a conference and encounters patients and acquaintances who claim not to recognize some of their relatives, as their behavior is completely different from what they remember. Attributing it all to a kind of collective paranoia, Dr. Bennell will discover that behind this phenomenon lies something he could never have imagined, something that threatens the lives of everyone on the planet.

This screening is part of the seminar Cartographies of conspiracy whose objective is to investigate different figures of conspiracy and paranoia to expose what images of our society they present, what cultural function they fulfill, and what political action they are anticipating. Recently, the publishing house del Círculo has published a new issue The same old villains. A theory of conspiracy theories by Pepe Tesoro, which tells how fantasy and paranoia resurface every time the present harasses us and becomes immeasurable.
