"Maciste could lose his shirt, but never his head." So reads one of the title cards of the first film dedicated entirely to the character. A young woman, harassed by a gang of criminals, takes refuge in a movie theater showing Cabiria. There, she is impressed by Maciste's feats and strength and tries to contact the actor who plays him to ask for his help for her and her mother. He accepts the challenge and begins his confrontation with the gang, which puts the hero in life-threatening situations.
