A chronicle of provincial life in Oviedo set in the 19th century. The actors who are going to perform travel on the Oviedo Express. The Regenta in that city. The arrival of the comedians disrupts the daily lives of the inhabitants: the mayor's wife falls into the arms of the lead actor, and passions and delusions surface with all their consequences.
