In a small provincial town, some idle bourgeois women come up with the idea of ​​organizing a Christmas campaign with the slogan: "Invite a poor person to your table." The idea is for the most needy to share Christmas Eve dinner with well-to-do families and enjoy the warmth and affection they lack. Plácido has been hired to participate in the parade with his motorized tricycle, but a problem arises that prevents him from focusing on his work: the first payment on the vehicle, his only means of support, is due that very day.
