A screening of one of the masterpieces of Japanese cinema will be followed by a discussion between Gloria Fernández (founder and director of CineAsia in Barcelona) and Carlos Sabín (theoretical physicist and Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Autonomous University of Madrid). The discussion will address the film's fragmented narrative, its use of flashbacks, and its connection to the description of reality proposed by quantum physics.

Rashomon narrates a crime through four contradictory versions, offered by different witnesses. The "truth" about what happened is not presented as singular or definitive; it remains in a kind of narrative overlap. The viewer is confronted with an unstable reality that depends on the perspective from which it is viewed. The film suggests, through cinematic language, the epistemological paradoxes posed by quantum physics: that reality is not a fixed entity, but a field of possibilities that are defined and multiplied depending on how and when it is observed.
