About the film
The title Sleep #2 explicitly references Warhol's 1963 avant-garde film Sleep, a 321-minute work depicting John Giorno asleep. Warhol called it an "anti-film," and it belongs to a series that includes Kiss, Eat, and Blow Job, all of which are considerably shorter. Jude's work, however, takes on a more meta-cinematic dimension, as Sleep #2 is composed of found-footage segments edited in the style of a desktop film. Unlike Warhol's minimalist approach, Jude's film is a heterogeneous collage that captures a wide range of live moments. The film oscillates between hidden camera work, sociological research, voyeurism, meditative vigils, and wildlife observation, all from the perspective of a single fixed camera and a single space: Warhol's grave.
