An Angolan Archive is an archival piece comprised of 200 documents, artifacts, garments, headlines, and historical data that define the sociocultural, economic, and political landscape of Angola, with a focus on Luanda. It is an ongoing project through which Sandra Poulson semiotically analyzes a series of everyday objects to question the relationship between family and social memory inherited from colonial Angola and the civil war. Among these archives is The Ladder , a film that highlights the dependence of cultural production on the material information that constitutes it; all objects are considered objects of study. The idea of ​​a distinctly African archive forms a central axis within the decolonial imaginary that informs the artist's work.
