1984. Thousands of African refugees arrive at camps in Sudan. At the urging of the United States and Israel, Operation Moses is launched: to bring Ethiopian Jews to Israel. A Christian mother convinces her nine-year-old son to say he is Jewish in order to save him from famine and certain death. The boy reaches the Promised Land and grows up between two cultures. But he will never forget his real mother, who stayed behind in the camp; he will always dream of finding her again.
