ZENDAN E ZENAN (WOMEN'S PRISON)
Following a riot in a Tehran women's prison, a woman with dictatorial methods takes charge. The inmates are a portrait of Iranian society and its evolution over the seventeen years covered by the film: political prisoners, unjustly imprisoned women, informers, and conformists parade through the prison corridors while Mitra, convicted of killing her stepfather, grows old rebelling against the norms, corruption, and hopelessness that surround her.
