Ángel GabilondoOmbudsman, and Irene Martin, Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the Autonomous University of Madrid, are the protagonists of the second installment of Dialogues on ethics, politics, and public virtueThis conversation addresses issues such as the defense of free speech and spaces for shared reflection in our societies, and the need for open politics with civic engagement for the common good, capable of fostering community in democratic societies. It also advocates for transdisciplinary education and science based on sustainable values ​​and concerned with the future of the social environments of which they are a part.

The project Dialogues on ethics, politics, and public virtue The project proposes a critical, transdisciplinary, and heuristic analysis of the concepts of ethics and political virtue. To this end, ten conversations will be recorded in which researchers from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) will engage in dialogue with ten prominent figures in the world of politics.

Ángel Gabilondo Pujol He is a Spanish politician and university professor, currently serving as the Ombudsman. Between 2009 and 2011, he was the Minister of Education for the Government of Spain; prior to that, he was Rector of the Autonomous University of Madrid and a member of the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at that university, as well as President of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities. Between 2015 and 2021, he was a member of parliament and spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Assembly of Madrid, and in all three elections, he was the PSOE-M candidate for President of the Community of Madrid.

Irene Martin She is a tenured lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Faculty of Law of the UAM. She holds a degree in Law (1994), a degree in Political Science and Public Administration (1996), a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the Juan March Institute (1998), a PhD from the UAM, and is a member of the CEACS – Juan March Institute (2004).
