ACCIONA Chair: Mónica Bello

Next Friday, May 21st, at 19pm, a new session of the ACCIONA Chair (Escuela SUR) with the presence of the curator and director of Arts at CERN Monica BelloFollowing her presentation, entitled Dialogues between art and science, culture and knowledge, will talk with the academic directors of SUR, Covadonga Blasco y David Sánchez Usanos.

Monica Bello She is a curator and art historian. Her curatorial work focuses on the narratives of contemporary technoscientific culture and how artists drive new conversations around emerging phenomena in our society and culture, such as the role of science and new knowledge in shaping our perception of reality. Since 2015, she has been Curator and Head of Arts at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva. In this role, she commissions research-based artist residencies at the Laboratory and new art commissions that reflect on the exchanges between artists and scientists at CERN. She has curated the exhibition Quantum Since 2018, she has been touring various art institutions in Europe. She was Guest Curator for the Audemars Piguet Art Commission at Art Basel 2018. Before arriving in Geneva, she served as Artistic Director of VIDA (2010-2015) at Fundación Telefónica, Madrid, and founded and directed (2007-2010) the Education Department at Laboral Centro de Arte, Gijón. She has curated international exhibitions and events with contemporary artists, designers, scientists, and theorists from diverse disciplines. As an internationally recognized figure in art and science networks, Bello regularly participates in conferences, selection committees, advisory boards, and mentoring programs.
