Jazz Círculo

Season 2025-26

The 25th/26th edition of Jazz Círculo It brings Caribbean, Mediterranean, and African influences. Cuban son, but also flamenco, Baroque echoes, and even Balkan folk will fill the Fernando de Rojas Theatre. National and international figures who transcend borders and styles will come together in this series, now in its 18th edition.

We open on October 18th with a Madrid performance by 23-year-old trombonist Julián Garvayo. His Afro-Cuban jazz sextet will bring original compositions featuring genres such as guaguancó, son, timba, and conga. A breath of fresh air where tradition and the spirit of Cuban music coexist.

In October, we continue with Cuban influences and Baroque music courtesy of the Ariel Brínguez Quintet and their Jazz About Bach project. The saxophonist embarks on a transoceanic journey to Cuba to perform the compositions of the great German genius.

Antonio Lizana, the saxophonist, composer, and flamenco singer from Cádiz, returns this season (November 7) with his work "Vishuddha," a testament to the transformative power of music to express the deepest truth and beauty. On this occasion, he will be accompanied by his exceptional quintet.

Composer and actress Astrid Jones and the Blue Flaps will arrive on November 28th with Shine, a show celebrating the union of two countries, Spain and Equatorial Guinea. Soul, jazz, reggae, and African rhythms combine to reclaim music as an act of beauty.

2026 begins with Ivan “Melon” Lewis, one of the most influential pianists and composers of his generation. Born in Cuba and based in Spain since 1998, he won a Grammy in 2021. He visits us in a trio with Reinier Elizalde “El Negrón” on double bass and Georvis Pico on drums. A guaranteed treat.

Double bassist Pablo Martín Caminero is an exceptional and essential figure when discussing the renewal of the national jazz scene. Jazz and the rhythmic richness of flamenco are integral to the identity of his music. He will perform in a quartet with Moisés Sánchez on piano, Daniel Juárez on tenor saxophone, and Borja Barrueta.

In February, the double bass takes center stage. Fans of this instrument can enjoy a unique style with the Petros Klampanis Trio. Mediterranean influences blend with Balkan folk music and contemporary jazz, shaping the sound of this musician who divides his time between Athens and the stages of New York.

To close the series in March, Cuban pianist Marialy Pacheco will grace us with her breathtaking piano sound, where her own compositions blend seamlessly with classic jazz standards, which she transforms into entirely new works. Marialy was the first woman to win the Montreal Jazz Festival Solo Piano competition.
