Jazz Círculo
Season 2026-27
The 26/27 Jazz season Círculo The series will feature seven concerts that explore contemporary jazz, Mediterranean roots, the most innovative European scene, and dialogues with other musical genres. Piano, organ, saxophone, trumpet, and voice will come together in a cycle that will bring together established figures of Spanish jazz with some of the most exciting new acts on the current scene.
The journey will begin with the Lucía Rey Quartet, one of the most distinctive voices in Madrid's jazz scene. A pianist and composer with a versatile career, Lucía Rey has forged her own unique language through her training in Madrid, Cuba, and New York, connecting jazz with other musical territories from an open and contemporary perspective. From there, the season will delve into the warm and expansive sound of the Albert Vila Organ Quartet featuring Perico Sambeat, a fusion of the lyricism and elegance of one of the most outstanding guitarists of his generation and the captivating personality of an essential saxophonist, a key figure in Spanish jazz with international acclaim.
This impulse led to the creation of the Álvaro Torres Trio, a project that blends post-bop, free improvisation, and echoes of Spanish folklore. Born in Madrid and with a career marked by cities such as Barcelona, Copenhagen, and Berlin, Torres develops a creative, restless, and deeply personal brand of jazz, here accompanied by Masa Kamaguchi on double bass and Kresten Osgood on drums, two highly accomplished musicians with a strong international presence.
In 2027, the series will open to the new European scene with Kuba Więcek, one of the most interesting voices in contemporary Polish jazz. A saxophonist, composer, and producer, trained in Krakow and Copenhagen, his music stands out for its stylistic freedom and a vision that transcends the boundaries of more orthodox jazz.
From there, the season continues with the arrival of Sumrrá Trío, an essential group on the Spanish scene. Hailing from Santiago de Compostela, the group has spent over two decades building its own unique sound: an unclassifiable, melodic, open jazz with enormous live power. Following them will be Alba Careta Group, a project led by the Catalan trumpeter and singer, offering energetic, intimate, and luminous music, sustained by the collaboration of some of the most outstanding musicians on the scene and a very natural combination of sensitivity, freshness, and personality.
The closing performance will be given by Federico Lechner Trio & Sheila Blanco, a particularly compelling collaboration to end the season. An Argentine pianist based in Spain and a key figure in the dialogue between jazz and tango, Lechner here unites his musical world with that of Sheila Blanco, singer, composer, and educator, in a performance that blends sophistication, emotion, and a deep respect for the repertoire and the spoken word.
