The battle

Memory, emigration, and waiting. Burka Teatro reconstructs the story of a woman born in Spain, raised in America, and who, in the 1950s, travels the opposite route to the prevailing migration patterns of the time. Her granddaughter, almost seventy years after that journey, needs to piece together the past to confront her present. Thus unfolds a play of mirrors in which dialogues between the granddaughter and her own image of her grandmother and of Homeric Penelope take place throughout the performance.
