Theatre showcase of the autonomous communities
For sixteen years, the Autonomous Communities Theatre Showcase has established itself as one of the must-see events of the Madrid theatre season. This annual competition was created to provide theatre companies from across Spain with a platform for expression and an open window to their rich and diverse projects.
Since 1996, by el Círculo de Bellas Artes More than a hundred theater groups from very diverse backgrounds have performed, premiering works by contemporary authors from different generations and demonstrating the strength of a plural theater not conditioned by spurious interests.
Year after year, this festival gives audiences access to productions that would be unlikely to reach Madrid on their own. In doing so, it clearly demonstrates the extraordinary vitality of theater produced outside of the mainstream commercial performing arts scene.
