Emilia Pardo Bazán Centennial

Inspired in The pazos de UlloaIn Emilia Pardo Bazán's novel, the story unfolds in the hours leading up to a rave and everything that happens during it. In an abandoned lot, Pedro, Tabo, Sabela, Jessy, Julián, and Nucha will discover and confront what they always feared: loneliness, abandonment, the struggle against themselves and others. It's the desperation of human beings with the sole purpose of feeling loved on earth.

Emilia Pardo Bazán writes The pazos de Ulloa Forty years after Emily Brontë wrote her Wuthering HeightsBoth share a bleak and sinister vision of a place far removed from the city, where restrictive and alienating laws prevail, leading all who live there to act more like savages than men. Their actions and behaviors revolve around an animality that displays a primal violence and aggression.
