Bohemian Lights by Ramón María de Valle-Inclán

Valle-Inclán wrote one of the essential texts of 1920
our theater, Bohemian lightswhich will be performed at the CBA during the month of January. With it, a new way of seeing reality was inaugurated: the grotesque. A renewed aesthetic concept, whose origin Valle-Inclán attributes to Goya, which he himself brilliantly describes in one of the last scenes of the play.

Turbulent characters and grotesque situations follow one another
throughout the night when the blind poet Max Estrella,
Together with his friend Latino, they roam the seediest parts of Madrid,
where they encounter all the city's underclass.
Ultimately, it's a complete microcosm of the society of that time, which isn't so far removed from today's.
