Ana Tijoux is a Chilean artist who protests to the rhythm of hip-hop. A composer, lyricist, arranger, and winner of an award Latin Grammy, has almost one million monthly views on Spotify and his talent has been endorsed by musicians such as Thom Yorke (Radiohead) to Iggy Popwho are among her admirers. Her lyrics are full of honesty and socio-political sensitivity, and she is considered one of the most important Latin American rappers on the international scene.

Her recognition in Latin America began in the late nineties as a femcee for the group Makiza, with whom she released three albums. In 2007 she released Kaos, his first solo album, in which he fused funk and soul with other rhythms linked to Black music. The daughter of exiles from the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, the biography of Ana Tijoux (Lille, 1977) has marked her as a woman and as an artist: she frequently participates in campaigns against inequality and oppression in the world. Feminist and activistIn both her lyrics and public statements, Ana Tijoux denounces sexist violence and gender inequality: “Everywhere we go, in every news story we see, violence against women is repeated, multiplied, and completely normalized. They ask you who you leave your children with when you go on tour, and often it's female journalists. And I think: When are they going to ask this of the fathers who leave their children when they go on tour?” Along the same lines, Tijoux has spoken out against the injustices women face in the arts: “We have to be young, attractive, and intelligent, but not talk much, sing beautifully, and look glamorous on stage. So, as a musician, you have to ask yourself, what is my room for maneuver here?” A multifaceted artist and creator, she is about to publish her first book of poetry and her fifth studio album.
