THE ANGEL OF LIGHT | SOUTHWEST THEATRE (Extremadura)
The Angel of Light For me, as a Portuguese person, this work is troubling. It speaks of the Spanish Civil War, the Rif War, the silence, and April 25th in Portugal—undoubtedly a very dark period in the history of Spain and Portugal. Black as black coffee, as black river, as the darkness of that dark time. It also speaks of the wretched, the desperately poor, who live without any hope, yet still hoping. Hoping that those who make politics will one day restore their rights, their most basic human rights. In this era of wars, of people dying of hunger, of not knowing what tomorrow will bring, what future awaits children and young people? João Mota
