Antonio Lizana Quintet

Saxophonist, composer, arranger and singer, Antonio lizana He presents his fifth album, Vishuddha, where he connects all his musical joy to a spirituality imbued with the hope that a better world is possible. The project comes fresh from a successful extensive European tour where, during his time in France, he graced the cover of the French magazine Jazz News.

Across the great pond, lizana He enjoys equal acclaim in the US, the birthplace of jazz, where, for example, he was invited to participate in NPR's famous Tiny Desk sessions and where he has such special mentors as Arturo O'Farrill, on whose latest big band album he played. His passport is already stamped dozens of times, but he continues to seek the intimacy of raw emotion. Here in Spain, meanwhile, this native of Cádiz has long been establishing himself as one of the great innovators of flamenco, drawing on his jazz background.

He feels no apprehension before traditional audiences, for his creative impulse never loses sight of tradition, the foundation of his work. That's why he resonates wherever he goes, and, as has been suggested, his tours span dozens of countries and years, during which he has performed as many as 500 shows. Applause is guaranteed today, especially when he performs with his regular band, where the magic becomes accessible to everyone.
