The Bitter Springs + The Hinault Lakes

The Bitter Springs It's one of the best-kept secrets of contemporary British music. With roots in London's Teddington neighborhood, its origins trace back to Last Party, their previous band, formed in 1985, under which name they recorded two albums. In 1996, The Bitter Springs was officially born. The story of Simon Rivers and his band is that of a niche group with a solid career—seven LPs, countless singles and collaborations—emotionally comparable to The Go-Betweens or The Triffids in their ability to create everyday gems of bittersweet pop with lyrics that are true urban poetry.

The Hinault LakesCarlos Ynduráin and Matilde C. Tresca, of Spanish-French origin, are one of Madrid's emerging bands. Their songs have a pop sensibility and are full of humor. The project was started by Carlos (guitar and vocals), a former member of Portonovo, who recorded their first demo in October 2008. Matilde (bass and vocals) later joined him. Fantastic week (2009) is their first work as a duo. This fall they will release Exemplary Lives.
