Christian Gerhaher, baritone & Gerold Huber, piano
Schubert dual
The Schubert Dual cycle begins with one of the great contemporary lied singers, embarking on a journey through the immense expressive richness of Schubert's lied. The recital ranges from the contemplative delicacy of "Der Jüngling an der Quelle" to the tragic depths of "Fahrt zum Hades," revealing a Schubert of extreme contrasts: intimate and expansive, serene and despairing, luminous and somber. His music, deeply intertwined with poetry, captures the fleeting nature of existence, the longing for paradise lost, and the haunting presence of death. An exceptional narrator of the human condition, Schubert masterfully fused the ephemeral with the eternal, the lyrical with the dramatic, in his songs. Accompanied by Gerold Huber on piano, Gerhaher's voice is the ideal key to entering this sanctuary.
