Classic and exotic
2 Marimbas, 2 Sopranos, 1 Violin
Last concert of the Great Listeners Cycle 2025!
The 2025 season of the Great Listeners Cycle comes to a close with the concert of most classic sounds of the season -Bach, Saint-Saëns, Offenbach, Vivaldi- and at the same time of more exotic timbres.
Conrad Moya y Katarzyna Myćka They introduce us One of the most special and unknown instruments in the percussion family: the marimbaAnd twice over!
We will have the opportunity to witness two concert marimbas. An instrument weighing 100 kg and of enormous dimensions, with a history of African roots that date back to the pre-Hispanic times of the American continent. La African, American, and European fusion It has given rise to a surprising contemporary instrument with a warm and hypnotic sound that is increasingly present in a multitude of genres, from folk to jazz and classical.
The marimba duo will be accompanied by a cast including the multifaceted violinist Daniel Henao and sopranos Iliana Verónica Sánchez y Elena Temprado, leading singers of the Madrid classical music scene, recent mothers and avid listeners.
The experience continues! For the third year in a row, we're producing the Touch Space in collaboration with the music store Hazen, where you can see, hear, and touch the instruments up close alongside the musician-guides who greet you as soon as you enter the lobby. It's a unique pre- and post-concert experience that nurtures the curiosity and love of music and sound in children and the whole family, and introduces us to instruments we've never had such a close look at. We offer life-size instruments and instruments perfectly sized for children.
