Concerto 1700 & Ana Vieira Leite, soprano
Under the guidance of its founder and director, violinist Daniel Pinteño, Concerto 1700 was recorded a couple of years ago with the Portuguese soprano Ana Vieira Leite an intense program of four chamber cantatas that Domenico Scarlatti He may have written it for Farinelli, during the time both musicians were at the Spanish court, since the singer had them copied and bound in a rich manuscript that is now kept in Vienna. In the mid-18th century, the cantata continued to be an excellent testing ground for opera composers, and it is quite possible that ScarlattiAn enthusiastic opera lover in his youth, the proximity of the myth rekindled his call to the theater. From that CD, the Madrid-based group has chosen three cantatas for this concert, adding a couple of evocative instrumental pieces.
