Anna Vinnitskaya, piano
The piano of the 21st century
Anna Vinnitskaya, a very young winner of the Jaén Prize, who later triumphed at the Queen Elisabeth Prize in Brussels, had surprisingly never performed in Madrid. Her debut recital traces some of the recurring themes of her career. It begins with the protean Ravel, capable of giving his best while appearing as a neoclassicist (Sonatina), a decadent symbolist (Pavane for a Dead Princess), or an impressionist (Jeux d'eau). She continues with Scriabin's Sonata No. 3, a work still bound to a classical formal structure, but for which the composer devised a program that explored the states of the soul. The introspective, melancholic, and serene Brahms of Op. 117 serves as a restorative journey to the intensely virtuosic Rachmaninoff of the Variations on Corelli's popular Folía.
