In Memoriam Bob Sands Quintet
On February 24, 2007, the Bob Sands Quartet He inaugurated Jazz Círculo, a series that has been a part of the CBA's programming uninterrupted for the past fifteen years, and to which Sands was always faithful through various groups and projects. On June 29th of this year, Bob Sands (New York, 1966), saxophonist, clarinetist, flautist, composer, and music teacher, passed away.
In Memoriam Bob Sands Quintet This is an exclusive Jazz Círculo project designed to celebrate the musical career of this magnificent musician. This stellar lineup includes two of the musicians who accompanied Bob Sands at that 2007 concert: the veteran and renowned drummer, percussionist, teacher, and producer. Guillermo McGill y Francisco “Loque” López, a regular double bassist in Bob's band for the past 12 years. The quintet is completed by three other virtuoso artists, also present in the groups led by Bob Sands: the young tenor saxophonist Daniel Juárez, one of the four or five most brilliant students to have emerged from Musikene in the last decade, transcriber of the maestro's solos and very familiar with his music; the excellent pianist Paul Gutierrez; and the prestigious guitarist Israel Sandoval.
