Dutch composer and double bassist Jasper Somsen leads this group, which also includes pianist Jeroen van Vliet and drummer Etienne Nillesen. Their compositions combine expressionist and impressionist elements, and their lyricism unfolds over rich musical landscapes and unique narrative elements that, in turn, respect the origins of musical history.

Throughout his career, Jasper Somsen has shared the stage with the most select names in the international jazz scene (Enrico Pieranunzi, Bert van den Brink, Maria Markesini, Nancy Marano, JD Walter), and together with the Jasper Somsen Group he recorded the acclaimed album in 2010 Dreams, Thoughts & Poetry (The music of Enrico Pieranunzi)The first pianist in this group was Jeroen van Vliet. Nillesen and Somsen, for their part, joined the Dutch Jazz Expedition in 2011 with their respective groups.
