Juan Belda Bit Band
Juan Belda studied structural music with Juan Hidalgo and jazz with Luis Vecchio, although his musical training was primarily self-taught. A graduate in Philosophy and a pioneer of electronic experimentation in Spain, he was considered one of the most influential Spanish musicians on Radio 3's twenty-fifth anniversary.
His work reveals connections to the avant-garde music of Zaj, Fluxus, and John Cage, as well as influences from krautrock (Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream) and jazz (Davis, Parker, Coltrane, Coleman). A musician, composer, producer, and sound engineer, Belda has a long history of working with musicians such as Jerry González, Jorge Pardo, Patricia Kraus, and Juan Gómez, with whom he founded Wax Beat, the first trip-hop group in Spain.
Jazz Círculo hosts the premiere of his latest project, Magic RoadThe album, composed over the last two years, is inspired, in Juan Belda's words, by "memory and the passage of time." He will be accompanied on stage by Juanjo Orti (drums), Pelayo Arrizabalaga (saxophone), Enrico Barbaro (bass), Javier Colis (guitar), and Hans Piesbergen (vocals).
