Ménilmontant Swing
The project Ménilmontant Swing It was founded in 2012 by Javier Sánchez (lead guitar), Fred PG (rhythm guitar), Gerardo Ramos (double bass) and Raúl Márquez (violin) with the aim of spreading Manouche jazz while imprinting a modern feel on this style.
Gypsy jazz, also known as manouche music, is a genre rooted in swing, a term coined by guitarist Django Reinhardt around 1930 in France. Reinhardt was the most prominent member of a group of Gypsy musicians in the Paris area, which also included violinist Stéphane Grappelli.
Manouche music is currently experiencing a kind of renaissance, especially in France. Ménilmontant Swing will revisit it at La Pecera.el Círculo de Bellas Artes Classic Django Reinhardt tracks, in the year that marks the sixtieth anniversary of his death, as well as jazz standards from the first half of the twentieth century, seasoned with large doses of vitality.
